Here are some FAQ's on our broadband services

Broadband, commonly referred to as your internet connection, is the means of providing you with internet access. Broadband is provided over multiple physical forms, including fibre (FTTP), SoGEA (FTTC, commonly supplied over your telephone cable), Leased Line & Mobile, such as 4G & 5G. Other forms of broadband services are popping up, including Starlink, an excellent solution for rural internet users where telephone networks & fibre are not yet available.

In our modern age of computing, having an internet connection is an absolute must for any business or user. Broadband is becoming increasingly available in rural areas and is always available in cities, towns and villages.

Fibre broadband (also known as fibre-optic broadband) is a type of high-speed internet connection that uses fibre-optic cables to transmit data as pulses of light. This technology offers significantly faster speeds and more reliable connections compared to traditional copper-based broadband like SoGEA.

Benefits of Fibre Broadband:

  1. High Speed: Fiber broadband can deliver internet speeds up to 10 Gbps, allowing for seamless broadband use, reliability and low latency connections.

  2. Greater Bandwidth: It supports higher bandwidth, meaning more data can be transmitted at once, making it ideal for households or businesses with multiple devices connected simultaneously.

  3. Reliability: Fiber is less susceptible to interference from electrical signals or environmental conditions (e.g., weather), making it more stable and dependable than other forms of broadband.

  4. Future-Proof: Fiber-optic infrastructure is considered future-proof since it can handle significantly higher data demands than older copper-based technologies, making it suitable for evolving internet needs, like 4K streaming, cloud services, and IoT devices.

SOGEA broadband (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access) is a type of broadband service that provides internet access without the need for a traditional phone line. In contrast to standard broadband services, where a phone line (PSTN) is typically required for both voice and internet services, SOGEA delivers just the internet connection, eliminating the phone line.

Benefits of SoGEA Broadband:

  1. No Phone Line Needed: Unlike traditional broadband services (like ADSL or FTTC), which rely on a landline for both phone and internet, SOGEA only provides internet, making it more cost-effective for users who don’t need a phone service.

  2. Similar Speeds to FTTC: SOGEA broadband typically offers speeds comparable to FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) broadband, ranging from 40 Mbps to 80 Mbps, depending on the distance from the street cabinet to your premises.

  3. Cost-Effective: Without the requirement of paying for line rental for a phone service, SoGEA can be more affordable, especially for people who rely on mobile phones and don’t use a landline.

  4. Transition to Digital Services: As phone networks switch to digital (IP-based) systems, services like SoGEA will become more common. You can still use your digital voice services (VoIP) if you want a phone service over their internet connection.

A leased line is a dedicated, fixed-bandwidth internet connection that we supply to businesses. Unlike standard broadband connections, a leased line offers several advantages, particularly for businesses that rely heavily on internet connectivity for daily operations, where fibre or SoGEA broadband might not be an option to use (no accessibility or poor speeds due to long cable lengths).

Benefits of a Leased Line broadband service:

  1. A Leased broadband line is a dedicated service with a fixed speed, meaning you have the full bandwidth of the line and are not subject to limitations or bandwidth usage from surrounding businesses.
  2. A leased broadband service offers consistent speeds, meaning no matter the weather or time, your speeds will remain constant throughout the day.
  3. A leased line also offers symmetrical speeds. Services like SoGEA offer asymmetrical speeds due to infrastructure limitations. A leased line however can offer up to 10Gbps on both the download and upload sides of the connection, perfect for high bandwidth users.

We understand that not all users are blessed with the potential of fibre of SoGEA broadband connectivity. Due to infrastructure limitations, we service a lot of customers who cannot get fast or reliable speeds to industrial units or locations where they work.

To counteract this, we offer rural broadband services through services such as 4G, 5G & Starlink. These solutions allow us to connect customers, no matter the connection. We provide the full assessment, design and build of the network to get you connected, giving you peace of mind when trying to supply your office with a broadband service.
