Family owned since 1987. No private equity, no call centre, no script. Just a Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex team that has been solving IT problems for four decades and counting.
Disking started life in 1987 as a mail order business supplying Banana branded floppy disks to retailers across the UK, and briefly to Florida in the US. What followed was four decades of reinvention: from PC Pieces peripherals stocked in John Lewis and W.H.Smith, to retail stores across Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex, to the fully managed IT and cyber security provider we are today. In 2025 we launched Disking Technologies (UK) Limited, our subsidiary building Central ERP, taking us into software as well as support.
We have never sold the business, never taken outside investment, and never stopped being the same company. Disking was started by the Smith family in 1987. That matters, because it means the people managing your IT are the same people who will still be here in five years.
Disking International began as a mail order business, supplying our Banana floppy disk range to end consumers and retail distributors across the UK, and Florida in the US. This early focus on essential computer media laid the foundation for the company’s growth and long standing reputation in the technology sector.
After the floppy disk era, Disking identified a new niche in the growing PC market, launching the PC Pieces range of computer peripherals. The brand quickly gained national reach, with hundreds of retailers, including major chains such as John Lewis and W.H.Smith, stocking this popular product line.
Following the success of PC Pieces, Disking expanded into retail with the launch of Disking Computers. Our first Farnham store marked the beginning of steady growth across Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire. As we evolved, our stores offered a broad range of PC products and reliable repair services, establishing Disking as a trusted local IT provider.
As technology evolved, so did we. Alongside supplying hundreds of businesses with IT hardware, we launched our Managed Services division, giving clients a fully managed, proactive IT service that went far beyond the old reactive repair model. One trusted partner for everything: hardware, support, cyber security and connectivity.
We launched our subsidiary, Disking Technologies (UK) Limited, for the development and distribution of our Central ERP solution, taking Disking into software as well as support.
We grew out of retail and repair, so we understand hardware in a way that many managed service providers never had to learn. Today that heritage sits alongside a full managed IT and cyber security offering:

Most of the larger IT support providers in Surrey and Hampshire have been bought, merged or backed by private equity in the last few years. We haven’t, and we don’t plan to.
